Latest Updates from Our Project:

Final Day!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 19, 2024 at 05:40:31 AM

The Campaign Ends at 4pm EST Today!

I'll save most of the emotional stuff for the next update after funding, but forgive me one gigantic THANK YOU to everyone who has helped make this campaign such a massive success for me and the other game designers that are a part of this!  I knew that I had great games and the response from demoing at conventions was great, but I've been overwhelmed just how well this has gone.

Lots of backers have joined the party since the last update: WELCOME!  Thanks for coming on board.  I messaged backers yesterday with a reminder to check your pledges before your cards are charged at the end of the campaign today.  If you do want any of the add-ons, I suggest adding them now while they are still at the Kickstarter-discounted prices.

Final Stretch Goal: FREE Mint Tin Stands at 1,000 Backers.

If we can reach 1000 backers, I will include mint tin stands for FREE to all backers receiving physical mint tin games.  It's a bit of a stretch, but not impossible!  If we don't make the goal, I will probably still have them in the Pledge Manager for a very reasonable price.

Updated playmat for Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up!  Sections are now labeled for easier set-up.

That's all the updates for now.  Let's finish strong!

Thanks,

Galen.

Mini Dice Trays Unlocked!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Nov 14, 2024 at 06:21:23 PM

$28,000 and 700 + backers with 4 days to go!

We did it!  Mini Dice Trays are unlocked!  These will unsnap to lay flat and will fit inside the Mint Tin Case!  I haven't fully decided on the design and color yet, but the price point is $15 for the pair if you add them during the Kickstarter.  Afterwards, they will sell for $10 each.  If you want to add them, you can select "Manage my Pledge" re-select your pledge, and then choose your add-ons.

Happy to get your thoughts on colors.  I want to stick with black on the outside and the Galen's Games logo inside, but I'm open to what the inside color should be.  The dice rolled in these (at least for my games) will be black, white, and red, so keep that in mind when you suggest a color.  Below is just a sample image and not the final product:

More Playmat Art!

Here's updated progress on the playmat for Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up.  We will be labeling the spaces and adding some fine details, but this one is getting close!

And here is a sketch for the Dice Clash layout.  Having the icons key right in front of you should be really helpful.  I can't wait to see what Hwa does with that big statue!

I should have something to show for Heritage Farms soon!  Unfortunately, I can't add or update pictures of add-ons on the KS page Rewards, but I will start updating them on the page itself.

Board Game Day at Millennium Games!

If you happen to be near the Rochester area, you can come see me at Millennium Games - the biggest board game store in the United States - this Saturday!  My ego might just be a little inflated by being a special guest along with Sen!  I'll be demoing Super Snipers and showing off the Mint Tin Games (which Millennium will be carrying as a retailer).

Pax Unplugged:

I will be at Booth 3909 at Pax Unplugged from December 6th-8th.  If you're coming, please stop by to say hello!

Final Stretch Goal?

I have an idea, but I'm waiting on a quote before making it official.  For now, let's just say that the goal is 1,000 Backers.  I'll say more as soon as I am able.

Okay, the campaign wraps up on Tuesday at 4pm EST.  Keep sharing around.  You guys all rock!

Thank you,

   Galen.

Final Week!
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 12, 2024 at 06:22:32 AM

We are in the final week of the campaign!

With 7 more days to go, the campaign is at over $26,000 and over 660 backers!  I have no doubt we will be unlocking the next stretch goal very soon.  Please, keep sharing the campaign around!  I have some updates and news to share.

Playmats:

I've got some preliminary art and layouts in for the play mats to show off:

This is the layout sketch for Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up.  Art by, John de Campos.  I can't wait to see this come together!

And here's the (possibly final) art for Verdant Arizona.  Art by, Jonathan Carnehl.  Can't wait to drive the little wooden truck around those dirt paths! Can you spot the gecko and the wren?

Hwa has been in Thailand for a Board Game Convention and wasn't able to get back to his computer in time to share Dice Clash progress for this.  I will include it in the next update.  Jonathan will be working on Heritage Farms next and I will share progress on that next time too.

Dice Trays nearly Unlocked!

Good news: the mini dice-trays will fit inside the Case!  Once unlocked, they will be available for $15 for a pair during the Kickstarter, $20 afterwards.  Just $1,700 to go!

Game Day at Millenium Games!

On Saturday, I will be spending the day at Millenium Games in Rochester, NY to show off Super Snipers and the Mint Tin games.  Sen-Foong Lim will be there too! If you're close by, come say hello!  Should be fun!

GameKnight Solo Previews!

GameKnight is all about solo mint tin games and he has tutorial/ previews out for Dice Clash and Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up (others coming soon).  If you've been curious about how the solo modes play, these will definitely help you out.

That's it for now.  The first and final 48 hours of a campaign tends to bring in the largest numbers of backers and I'm excited to see where this lands!  As always, sharing the campaign around helps me a lot.  Thank you!

Let's have a killer final week of the campaign!  Appreciate your support.

Half-way there! Mint Tin Carrying Case Details.
over 1 year ago – Tue, Nov 05, 2024 at 07:32:06 AM

Cue Bon Jovi....

We are officially half-way through the campaign!  559% funded and closing in on 600 backers!  I can't say it enough...Thank you!  Alright, onwards with the updates.

Mint-Tin Case

Sample image, final product may be different

I have settled on the size and style of the case.  It will be about 8.5 inches length, 4.5 inches wide, and a little less than 2.5 inches height.  3 games will fit in the top, and 3 in the bottom. The schematic below shows the inside and the side view:

These are available as add-ons for $15 during the campaign, and will be $20 afterwards. Adding them during the campaign not only saves you money, it moves us closer to our next stretch goal.  If you want to add the case to your order just go to "Manage my Pledge", re-select your pledge level, and then add any add-ons you want.

Player Mats

In the last update I mistakenly gave the dimensions of the player mats as 10 x 6.  They are actually 10 x 16.  I look forward to sharing the art progress in the next update.

Next Unlock

The $28,000 unlock will either be Mint Tin Stands or mini Dice Trays.  Backers are voting in the comments and currently, Dice Trays have a commanding lead!  I'll announce the winner in a pinned comment Wednesday night so as to avoid overwhelming you with updates.  I'm working on the Dice Tray sizes and quotes currently.  I'm looking to make them fit within the case.

New Interview:

Oliver from Don't be Board interviewed me about the games, the Kickstarter, and other fun topics.  Check it out!

What's Next?

Next update in a week or when we hit $28,000, whichever comes first.  I'm staying busy with working on the rulebooks so that we can get them a final proofread and edit and prepare them for the manufacturer as well as for the Italian digital translation and PnP files.  Hwa, John, and Jonathan are working on the playmat art.

If you're in the US, please remember to vote!  Thank you all for your support.

Playmats Unlocked! Help pick our next unlock.
over 1 year ago – Sat, Nov 02, 2024 at 01:36:20 PM

Over $20,000 and over 500 backers in 10 days!

I continue to be amazed and overjoyed at the pace of this campaign and your support.  Thank you all!  I have some updates to share.

Playmats:

I have decided to go with double-sided playmats, one for the Battle Bundle and one for the Strategy bundle.  They will by 10x6 inches and will be available as add-ons for $10 each ($5 off of MSRP). They will also be available in the pledge manager after the campaign, but at the $15 price point.

All of the artists are hard at work designing these and I will share progress in the updates. You can get updates more quickly on my Instagram, or the FB Group. They will all contain new original art and be designed to enhance the play experience/ immersion.  So, Dice Clash will have an arena, Mint Tin Monster Mash-Up will put you inside of a mad scientist's lab, Verdant Arizona will have dirt paths and a populated market with beautiful desert flora, and Heritage Farms will have a river down the middle and beautiful farmland, as well as a graveyard for the lost pieces.  I can't wait to see them.

You can wait to see more, but they will be available as add-ons when you see this update.  Simply select "manage my pledge", re-select your pledge level, and then choose the add-ons you want.

Cases:

I have an estimate for the case, but need to nail down some additional details before I'm ready to commit to a price point and add them to the add-ons.  I will keep you updated!

Next Unlock?

I have two options I'm considering unlocking at $28,000.  First, stands for the games.

I love these for displaying my own mint tin games on the shelf.  They would be simple 2-piece acrylics that slot together to create a display stand.  They would be low cost.

The other option would be mini dice trays:

These would be small and could unsnap and lay flat.  I would design them so they would fit inside the case. They would really only be helpful for the Battle Bundle games.  I know I always pull out dice trays for Dice Clash and Mint-Tin Monster Mash-Up.

VOTE:

Which do you prefer?  Comment "Stands" or "Dice Tray" in the main Comments and whichever gets the most votes by the end of Wednesday, November 6th, will be the next unlock.  Hopefully it's the least stressful voting you have to do this coming week!

New Overviews:

Lance from Learn2Play did an overview of the series as well as playthroughs of all 4 games!

And AdamtheFanatic also did a great overview of the games.  There's a few small rules mistakes but this is a great overview video.  He has one of my favorite smaller channels.  I highly encourage you to subscribe.

Lastly, I like to use this platform to highlight other great games from Indie creators.  Right now, Katie Andrews has an amazing Mint Tin strategy game, Terreign, on crowdsale at the GameCrafter.  If you're unfamiliar with crowdsales, they work a little like Kickstarters except that the price gets cheaper with the more people who pledge.  I've played the game and - if you're excited by the games in the strategy bundle here - you will definitely dig this one.  Take a look!

Terreign Crowd Sale

That's it for now.  Tuesday will mark 2 weeks of the campaign, with 2 weeks to go!  As always, anything you can do to help spread the word is appreciated!

Galen.
